EINGEBEN

Es gibt auf dem Shannon-Erne-Kanal keine 
Schleusenwärter, sondern mehrere Beamte, die für den 
Wasserverkehr zuständig sind. Diese können Sie bei 
Problemen telefonisch unter der Nummer erreichen, die in 
diesem Gewässerführer bei jeder Schleuse steht. 
Schleusenkarten sind in Geschäften, wo das Logo des 
Shannon-Erne-Kanals                zu sehen ist, erhältlich. 
Beachten Sie das Verfahren beim Durchfahren der 
Schleusen mit großer Aufmerksamkeit. Unerfahrene 
Skipper sollten das Betriebssystem sehr vorsichtig 
benutzen und die Bedienung nur durchführen, wenn Ihnen 
die ganze Prozedur klar ist.

Verlassen der Schleuse
Verlassen Sie die Schleuse wenn die Tore sich geöffnet 
haben.

Schwierigkeiten
Falls sich die Tore durch Treibgut verklemmen oder nicht 
vollständig aufgehen, versuchen Sie sie erneut auf- oder 
zuzumachen. Bei Problemen können Sie den 
Schleusenwärter unter der angegebenen Nummer 
erreichen.

Mann über Bord
Sofort den Notfallknopf (emergency stop) drücken und 
vom Boot aus oder über die Schleusenleitern die Rettung 
einleiten.

Höflichkeit
Obwohl „wer zuerst kommt, malt zuerst“ die Regel ist, ist 
es sinnvoll, stromabwärts fahrende Boote durchfahren zu 
lassen, wenn die Schleuse noch voll ist. Fahren Sie 
langsam in die Schleuse ein.

Save our Canal

Erosion of the canal bank is a serious 

problem which can be aggravated by 

boats going too fast on the narrow 

sections of the canal.

Please reduce your speed so that there 

is little or no wash behind you. This 

generally means a speed of 5kph - 

about half your normal driving speed.

Schützen Sie unseren Kanal

Die Abspülung und Auswaschung der Ufer, 

die durch zu schnell fahrende Boote 

verursacht wird, ist ein ernstes Problem für 

die engen Kanalabschnitte. Bitte fahren Sie 

so langsam daß Sie keine Heckwelle 

verursachen. Das ist generell eine 

Geschwindigkeit von rund 5 km/h, was etwa 

der halben normalen Geschwindigkeit

Lough Erne Fishing Licence

Please ensure you have the 

correct Licence and Permit

As part of the Blueways Ireland network of 
multi-activity trails for paddling, walking and 
cycling, there are defined paddling trails 
along the Shannon and Shannon-Erne.

These trails extend from either Lough Key 
or Lough Allen to Carrick-on-Shannon, and 
onwards along the Shannon to 

Lanesborough.

They also extend along the Shannon-Erne 
from Leitrim Village to Belturbet and towards 

Crom on the Erne System.

Boaters should be aware of small craft accessing the waters 
at the Blueway Access Points shown, and show 
consideration for paddlers travelling along the Blueway trails.
